What is Stress and Trauma?

Both stress and trauma begin in the body, and healing happens here too. Chronic stress happens when the body keeps thinking there’s a life and death threat, when most likely there isn’t. The body then becomes stuck in a state of fight, flight, or freeze.

  • Common experiences are: overthinking, worrying, chronic tension in the body, over-extertion, stressed and overwhelmed at work, constantly busy or working, conflict with others, reactivity, difficulty falling asleep, upset stomach, racing heart, frequent dizziness, shallow breathing, feeling on edge, irritable, fatigue, exhaustion, burnout.

Similarly, trauma is when something is too much, too soon, too fast, that the nervous system hasn’t gotten a chance to fully process it, and becomes thwarted in the experience. Any event that overwhelms the body that it reflexively can fawn, appease, shutdown, numb, feel helpless, or collapse.

  • Common experiences are: childhood abuse, car accidents, medical trauma, natural disasters, systemic oppression. Many experience fear, chronic tension, bracing, or pain, anger outbursts, flashbacks, rumination or overthinking, limiting beliefs (I am not enough or worthy, I am not safe, I am responsible, etc.), conflict with others, unmotivated, procrastination, dissociation, disconnection from self and others.

The Impact of Stress & Trauma

Modern research has clearly shown how unresolved stress and trauma affects your immunity and health, and can be a contributing factor to chronic diseases and terminal illness. Additionally, stress and trauma negatively impact your ability fully function at work, stifle your creative expression, and can create more conflict with yourself and others. Although you cannot change the past, you can absolutely have a different perspective and relationship with these events, and increase your resiliency and empowerment.

Using Somatic Experiencing Healing Modality

What Is Somatic Experiencing® (SE)?

With over 45 years of successful clinical application, Somatic Experiencing (SE) was created by Dr. Peter Levine to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma (e.g., developmental attachment trauma, PTSD, etc.) accumulated in our bodies and nervous systems—allowing for health, resilience, and wellness.

SE is a body-led therapeutic model—a holistic, multidisciplinary approach drawing from stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics.

It helps release patterns stuck in the self-protective states of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, SE gently guides clients to relate to their body in the present moment, develop tolerance for difficult sensations and emotions, and complete previously thwarted defensive responses.

This supports greater presence, access to life energy, empowerment, and resilience to relate to life in a new way.

What Are the Benefits of SE?

Things to Consider If SE Is for You

  • SE is a slow process of relating to your body and nervous system in the present moment.

  • It focuses less on talk, and more on imagery, emotions, sensations, and slow movements to release stuck energy.

  • It does not focus on past or future details, but rather how your body wants to express itself now.

  • We work with what your body is ready to slowly process while finding safety within.

  • SE is not for those seeking a quick fix or primarily talk-based therapy—it requires patience and self-practice.

  • You choose the number of sessions; some benefit from just a few, others over several months.

  • Changes are typically experienced within 4 to 6 months.

How It Works: The Journey

  1. Sign Up: Book a free consultation and fill out the evaluation form.

  2. Initial Consultation: We’ll discuss your goals, challenges, and customize a plan just for you, and see if we are a good fit for each other.

  3. Sign Documents: Before beginning, you’ll read and sign consent forms through a secure platform for all documentation.

  4. Intake: You’ll receive a thorough assessment, and begin formulating goals. 

  5. Moving Forward: You’ll receive ongoing support and accountability through regular weekly or bi-weekly virtual sessions.

Investment

All sessions are $250 each for all services offered at Holistika Embodiment.

Single Session - $250 

  • 60 minutes via Google Video

  • Intention: addressing one minor issue, assessing if coaching session is good fit for you, support for regulation

  • Common results: clarity, a quick pick-me-up, calmer, more regulated

  • Limited scheduling availability as priority is given to existing clients who’ve completed the packaged sessio

Rooted Embodiment Package with 12 sessions - Total $3,000

  • 60 minutes via Google Video

  • Intention: assessment and goal setting, learning more somatic tools for nervous system regulation and healing, supporting the recovery and healing from chronic stress, burnout, trauma, loss and grief, consistent support for your nervous system healing and knowing your unique patterns to give feedback, knowing and healing your parts.

  • Email support outside of sessions, with somatic tools provided if desired

  • Common results: More relief, increased confidence in applying somatic tools, less stress and overwhelm, more peace, groundedness, and presence, healthier communication and deeper connections with others, increased empowerment and trust in one's intuition, better boundaries.

  • You can choose weekly or bi-weekly sessions, with a choice to pause sessions for more time to integrate if needed. 

Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy: 48 hours prior to session, otherwise the session will be charged.

Exceptions include: Death of a loved one, emergency hospitalization, or a natural disaster.

No refunds given when services have been rendered due to nature of the offering.
